Shelly Nelson brings heart, dedication and a positive mindset to every real estate transaction. Growing up just outside of Asbury, Iowa on a family farm, she learned the value of hard work, integrity and community from her parents. After graduating from Hempstead High School, she continued her education at Northeast Iowa Community College in Peosta.

For 20 years, Shelly built a successful career as a dental assistant, earning patients' trust and forming lasting relationships. Her attention to detail, calm professionalism, and genuine care for people naturally transitioned into real estate when she earned her REALTOR® license in May 2021.

Today, as a licensed agent with American Realty in Dubuque, Shelly proudly serves both buyers and sellers throughout Dubuque and the surrounding communities. She understands that purchasing a home is one of life’s biggest investments and that selling requires thoughtful strategy, strong communication, and skilled negotiation. Whether guiding first-time buyers through the excitement of finding the right home or helping sellers position their property for maximum value, Shelly believes real estate is about more than contracts and closings. It is about listening carefully, exceeding expectations and working seamlessly with local industry professionals to ensure smooth, successful transactions from start to finish.

Shelly and her husband, are raising their boys in Peosta, Iowa, where they enjoy being part of the close-knit community they proudly call home.
