The East Central Iowa Association of REALTORS® reports the number of home sales in July 2015 remained steady over those sold same time 2014. According to the East Central Iowa Multiple Listing Service (ECIMLS) 2015 Residential Housing Report, 133 homes were sold in the Tri State area in July 2015 up slightly from 128 in July 2014. Year-to-Date sales remain well ahead of previous years with 706 home sales through July 2015 compared to 644 in 2014. Year-to-Date Average Sales Price is at $168,213 down 3 percent over an Average Sales Price of $173,219 same time 2014.
“The YTD increase in home sales is being fueled by an improving economy that’s giving more households the financial wherewithal and incentive to buy,” says East Central Iowa Association of REALTORS® President LaVonne Deininger. “That combined with the strong possibility that interest rates will rise, which could cost buyers tens of thousands of dollars in interest over the course of a standard 30 year loan, makes now the best time to buy or sell.
