THE HISTORY OF AMERICAN REALTY
In October of 1972 two young real estate professionals scrambled to attempt to get everything in place to open their business before the end of the year. In November of 1972 they started operating out of one of their kitchens.

Their immediate goal was to get their new business up and running and to start the process of establishing a good reputation and listing and selling homes. They decided to name their business AMERICAN REALTY OF DUBUQUE, INC. They listed and sold their first home within a few days.

Within a short period of time they identified a location for their new business-1125 Main St. They continued to concentrate on listing and selling homes with a fair degree of success.

After a year of so they decided it was time to start expanding. Within a short period of time AMERICAN REALTY acquired 4 salespeople.

In the late 70's the decision was made to revise their training/management program in an effort to help their existing sales people become more productive, to be better equipped to serve their clients and customers, and to help recruiting efforts.

In 1980 the company really started to grow. The company's first location (1125 Main St.) was not large enough to handle its growing sales force. In 1983 AMERICAN REALTY moved to new quarters at the Inn Plaza on the West end.

In 1986 the principals of AMERICAN REALTY purchased a plot of land on JFK Rd. and started building a new home for their business. Later that year they took possession. At first they occupied the lower level and leased out the upper floor space.

In 1997 AMERICAN REALTY established a relationship with Ruhl & Ruhl Commercial Co. in Davenport, Iowa and started the RUHL/AMERICAN COMMERCIAL CO. They located this company in a recently vacated suite on the second floor of their building.

2008 marked AMERICAN REALTY'S 36th year of serving the home buying needs of people in the Dubuque land area. We are proud of our past and look forward to providing the same quality service in the future.

Our 30 or so sales professionals are all highly trained and very knowledgeable. Our objective is to provide our clients and customers with professional, honest, and reliable service. We know that if we serve you well you will achieve your goals and we will achieve our goals.
